Phasing out of Suspended Sentences: Sentencing Advisory Council Consultation Paper

This reference to the Sentencing Advisory Council was made by the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, the Hon Vanessa Goodwin MLC in July 2014.

This paper sets outs the Council’s preliminary views and draft recommendations following its deliberations on the approach to be taken to the phasing out of suspended sentences in Tasmania and the possible replacement sanctions. The Council has also prepared a companion document, Phasing out of Suspended Sentences: Background Report to inform the phasing out of suspended sentences and the development of sentencing options to replace them.
