Song Makers is an arts education program designed to support the growth of the Australian contemporary music industry and address a gap in the provision of music education in schools. It provides opportunities for high school students to create new music in collaboration with professional artists using real world approaches to song writing and producing. Up to 16 students are mentored by two artists at a time to write and record an original song in an intensive in-school workshop over two days. The program is managed by collecting agency, APRA AMCOS, and is supported by the Australian Government.
