The results of this his research, based on a Tasmania-wide sample of infant teachers, attempts to bring together the teachers perceptions of televised programs during Term 2, 1985, in relation to educational theory and research into instructional television. The paper is divided into three parts: Part A of this study gives an outline of the history of educational television in Australia, together with a brief introduction to learning theory - with particular emphasis on the work of Piaget. Educational programming, infant education and issues relating to the use of educational television and teacher training, are also discussed. Part B of the study covers the design and outcome of the questionnaire. Part C (Appendix).
