Helping people grow : the evaluation of two communication skills programs at Devonport High School

In the past, pastoral care at Devonport High School has occurred within the context of the Supportive School Environment Policy. Four key areas of pastoral care emerged from a review of the literature. Two of these, peer mediation training for students and training in basic counselling skills for staff, became the focus for the practical aspect of the project. Both were implemented as part of this project. This project also contains the evaluation of both training programs; an essential component in future development within the school.
