The distribution, biogeography and habitat preferences of Tasmanian dytiscidae (Coleoptera)

The insect order, Coleoptera, the beetles, is among the most successful groups of organisms on earth, occupying almost every available terrestrial niche with a wide array of body forms and life history strategies. Beetles are not restricted to terrestrial habitats as many families have secondarily invaded fresh water, and among the most widespread of these is the family Dytiscidae.
